Back to the good life

Suzanne, Liya-Jean and I are back in Slough after what was probably our best family holiday ever! We had the privilege of going to Mallorca, Spain, for 7 days of all-inclusive luxury. Sun, food, cocktails and lots of chilling out... Totally recommended! It's great to be back in the promised land, though. We have a lot going on at the moment. We've got a big God's Not Dead initiative coming up in early October, which coincides with our London church's 20 year anniversary. Together with a few others, I'll be facilitating a mission team which will help at all the God's Not Dead events. I'm sure it's going to be quite a week! Bible School is also starting in Slough next week, which I'm really excited about. Suzanne's classes are also back in full swing, so it's go go go time in the Albrecht house! More than anything, we are excited about the next season. Church has been great and there's definitely a lot of anticipation in the air. We...

Slowing down...

It is Friday ;) my favourite day. Family day. Worship for as long as we want and bonding with each other!! I love my husband and our daughter. There is so much in them, enough to mesmerise me till the end of my days.     It is in silence and reflection that we can truly hear the voice that leads us. Making space to adore and bond with our Father is so refreshing. People are awesome, reaching our goals are fulfilling, but we can be empty and have so little to give if we spend all of our time focussing on  these things. I am trying my utmost best to create space. Empty, nothing to do, spaces, that can be filled with times of bonding with my Saviour Jesus and Father God. Or just nothing. I always feel that an open space must be crammed with an activity. Life is short and time is little. But no more.     It has been 7 days since I embarked on this journey. Good luck to me and to those who decide to do the same. I bless your time, wisely spent, and with our God

48 hours

We have just returned from the beautiful english country side where we worshiped and worshiped and worshiped our God. Our lives are busy, but God is always there. Longing for us, He is our Father and we belong to Him. As we feel about our children, He feels about us and more! Go to Him, He is waiting x

Ephesians 3

I don't usually blog about these things. But would like to share this with you. It really touched me. One of my favorite chapters in the Bible. I love Ephesians 3. It is a meaty chapter indeed, so rich. Today it is verse 2 that struck me: 'Assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace (His unmerited favor) that was entrusted to me (to dispense to you) for your benefit' Stewardship of God's grace.. . Paul specifically writes about his portion of grace (power and favor) that God entrusted to him. He must spread the news that salvation and freedom is now due for everyone, not just the Jews. We can apply this to our own lives by asking the question of how we choose to release this grace/power and what do we choose to use the favor for? Each of us has unmerited favor/power given to us by God We decide what our efforts go into. How do you channel the favor and the power made available to you? Let us be prayerful to be granted the wisdom an...

The calm before the storm

It's Friday! And our Fridays are even better than most people's, because for us the weekend has already started (we work mainly from Sunday to Thursday). Not that weekend is what we live for, but we somehow always feel like we need it. Today will be particularly quiet and family-focused as we part ways to opposite sides of the planet tomorrow. Suzanne and Liya-Jean are off to France to spend a week in Marseille. Our friends, Matt and Christy Rasch are going to the Every Nation World Conference in Florida and Suzanne will looking after their kiddos. And I'll be joining Matt and Christy in the States for the conference, which is very exciting! I'm not that excited about going alone though, but hey... you win some, you lose some. Then we're back in a week's time for a fairly busy summer program at church, which by the way is going really well. We had our record number of adults this last Sunday... 81! That might not sound like a lot, but for us it's a huge ...

Extending the family

Nope! Not what you're thinking... if you're thinking what I'm thinking you're thinking. Our new family member is 26 years old and his name is Jack (or Jacek if you speak Polish). He moved into our guest bedroom about 6 or 7 weeks ago (which means our new guest bedroom is the living room) and is a great addition to our little castle (as he puts it) here in Slough. Among many other good characteristics (like being able to cut hair), Jack is really informed about healthy living, which we really need! It's been an interesting season of experimenting with raw broccoli and eating a lot more fruit and overall we're feeling better for it. Welcome to the family, Jack! Things are very good on most fronts here. The church has been doing really well. The last few weeks have been fuller than ever with a few new faces about. At the moment, we have people from 12 nations forming the church, which is really exciting. We've also got an outreach in Slough coming up with ...

I can see clearly now...

I love the start of a new year. It seems as if you can see the whole year with so much clarity. I think that's why we come up with new year's resolutions, because we can see what we want and we try to come up with ways of getting it... I'm not sure of God ever intended for us to celebrate years coming and going like we do, but I think it creates a good rhythm. I learned a while ago that most things, if not all, have a rhythm to them. It's not always obvious at first, but if you observe or stand back for long enough, it becomes more and more apparent. I like the rhythm of looking back and then forward - remembering the good and trying to make some sense of the bad and then creating an expectation for more of the good to come. One of the reasons I love Jesus is that we can expect for more of the good when we walk with Him. Not more of the easy, but more of the good. Of course there are ups and downs, celebrations and disappointments, but in the end - when we follow ...
